Each foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 19 muscles.  The 52 bones in your feet make up about one quarter of all the bones in your body.  Our feet are constantly stressed in our daily activities. Running results in 3-5 times your body weight being transferred through each foot.  For an individual weighing 75kg, this equates to 225-375kg with each step!  To accomplish this, the foot is designed to be a supple and accommodating structure when it strikes the ground that can transform into a rigid lever when you push off. This requires that a complex system works flawlessly throughout our lives.  Seventy-five percent of people experience foot complaints at some point.  A foot condition may be the first sign of a systemic illness or condition.
